Sandancer EP is a heartfelt and raw collection of songs with a tragic backstory. In April 2018, Nick Shake learned that his previous partner and confidant, after a life long struggle with mental health, had taken her own life. This kickstarted an outpouring of grief amongst her close friends and family, and became a catalyst for many impassioned conversations about the mental health crisis we’re currently facing.

The following month, Nick staged a tribute concert in London, in aid of mental health awareness. He was overwhelmed by how much this resonated with people. Everyone there was openly sharing their heartbreaking stories about losing their own loved ones to suicide. It was powerful evening of collective catharsis and healing.

Inspired by the community connections made that night, Nick began crafting the songs and stories that would eventually become the Sandancer EP.
